Storyline:
When a small town is invaded by aliens from outer space who are capturing and killing the townspeople, no one takes them seriously. Why? The aliens all look like circus clowns, use weapons that look clown like, and all have painted on smiles. Only a few of the young people in the town realize the danger and of course no one believes them. Armed with an ice cream truck they try and rescue their friends.
Review:
Recently I watched the fourth season of Stranger Things and I was in kind of black hole afterwards… I needed more eighties sci-fi and horror movies… and I was recommended Killer Klowns from outer Space… so of course I went looking for it…
So, you know where a movie is actually so bad it becomes good? This is such a one! I had great fun with this, not because of its spectacular special effects, not because it had great acting or the music was so fantastic or the storyline just blew me away… no, because of its cult status and its studious effect it had on me… you can see the makers and actors had so much fun in making a movie, typical for the eighties, where something from out of space creates chaos in a little town… (remember The Blob and Night of the Creeps?)
The costumes of the clowns were to die for… hilarious! The costume designers must have been laughing their butts off when making them!
I saw there’s a sequel in the making, over three decades after this one… maybe we won’t get the same cult-like movie but who knows, with some better special effects, it could become a new classic!
