Review:

One of the many slasher movies released in the second half of the nineties, after the success of Scream. And just like the Scream franchise this isn’t dead yet because after the two movies in the nineties, one really (!!) bad ‘Always know’ and a tv-series (available on Amazon, which I will watch soon), a new movie is announced reuniting Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

So there’s still some life in the slasher franchises. And admittedly the success of Scream was the reason it has some love back then and it’s also the reason it’ll get that new addition.

And even though Kevin Williamson wrote both Scream and IkwydlS, Scream always topped this one. ‘I know’ had been written before ‘Scream’ hence why it isn’t as smart as the latter, but it’s entertaining as hell!

And damn… Ryan Phillippe ànd Freddie Prinze Jr. 🥵 if that’s not reason enough to watch this movie 😏 (and ok Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jennifer Love Hewitt will probably have been many teenager’s (and other men) wet dream as well, I’m sure! 😎

The hooked fisherman takes its inspiration from a few urban legends (even mentioned at the start of this movie) but takes an entirely different turn in this franchise…

Oh and whaaaat… Leonard from The Big Bang Theory is in this one as well? Poor Max though 🤓

So yeah, the nineties were sexy, bloody and had some hella great music! (On the soundtrack is Hooverphonic’s 2 Wicky! Great track!!! On the soundtrack of the second movie is another Hooverphonic song: Eden, btw!)

Fun to rewatch!

2. I still know what you did last Summer (1998)

  • Director: Danny Canon
  • With: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Jack Black, Brandy Norwood, Mekhi Phifer, Muse Watson, Bill Cobbs, Matthew Settle, Jeffrey Combs, Jennifer Esposito, John Hawkes
  • Music by: John Frizzell
  • Duration: 1h40

  • Rating: 6,5/10

Synopsis:

The murderous fisherman with a hook is back to once again stalk the two surviving teens, Julie and Ray, who had left him for dead, as well as cause even more murder and mayhem, this time at a posh island resort.

Review:

I’ll start by saying this was indeed a whole lot less believable than its predecessor and had some flaws… even though I’d seen it many times before I never really liked it as much as the first movie.

There are so many flaws and mistakes in this movie and the acting is beyond par, but apart from all that and taking in consideration that ‘I know’ is a hard movie to beat, or to supersede, I still think it’s a lot of fun with some great (death)scenes.

I will not spoil but I will say that from the start you can already know who the killer is!!

And btw, the capital of Brazil is nót Rio de Janeiro!

The remote island location for a killing spree has been used often since this movie. I even wonder if this was one of the first to do that? Probably not…

There’s not too much to say about this movie, just that it was fun enough, had great scenes but lacked its smart and wit from the first movie… and it had Jack Black in it… which for me is not a plus 😒

But again, fun to rewatch! And as I mentioned before, the sequel (I always know) is dreadful and I won’t be rewatching that one… (unless you force me!) 🤣

But the tv-show, now that I will watch and review later this year… Stay tuned!
