Synopsis:

The saga continues 200 years after Ripley sacrificed herself for the sake of humanity. Her erstwhile employers long gone, this time it is the military that resurrects the one-woman killing machine through genetic cloning to extract the alien from within her, but during the process her DNA is fused with the queen and then the aliens escape. Now Ripley must decide where her allegiance lies.

Review:

Ok, a new and refreshing take on the Alien-franchise, that’s what I call this one. And glad to see Sigourney returning for one more movie… pity it’ll be her last take on Ripley (unless the upcoming Alien tv-series has a surprise cameo of her or Blomkamp is allowed (and still willing) to make his sequel to ‘Alien 2: Aliens’)

This time we see Ripley back alive, after she cast herself in the fires of the prison planet in ‘Alien 3’, 200 years after those events. A company (UMS) cloned Ripley and the creature inside her, so they can get to the Xenomorph. Ripley becomes some kind of hybrid human-Xenomorph and has to prevent chaos again when the creatures escape their new prison. Helped by a band of smugglers (with Ron Perlman and Winona Ryder amongst them) she trues to escape the spaceship and kill the creatures.

This time Jean-Pierre Jeunet sits in the director’s seat and gave a more stylish movie, compared to the other Alien movies. It definitely changed the pace of the previous instalment but it will never gain as much momentum and love from me as the first two Alien movies (and nor will any of the succeeding sequels, btw)

It is great to see Brad Dourif in this movie as well… who would have thought Chucky would fight an Alien? 😉

So all in all a great movie, lots of fun, strong women characters and Ron Perlman… not bad! 😄
