Movie review ‘Nomadland’ (2020)

  • Director: Chloé Zhao
  • With: Frances McDormand, David Strathairn, Tay Strathairn, Bob Wells
  • Duration: 1h47
  • Music by: Ludovico Einaudi
  • My rating: 7/10

Synopsis:

Following the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, Fern (Frances McDormand) packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad. The third feature film from director Chloé Zhao, NOMADLAND features real nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells as Fern’s mentors and comrades in her exploration through the vast landscape of the American West.

Review:

Frances McDormand is such a great actress, no other could play this role so good as she did!

I won’t say this was my favourite movie but the way Zhao showed us the nomad life, those images, the dialogues and especially the music made this such a lovely movie.

Not sure what I would do if I were in a lot of the nomad’s place… I couldn’t live in a van like they do but what if you don’t have a choice? Zhao made me think, made me reflect and this movie is such an eye opener…

I can’t say too much about it, you have to experience it for yourself! Good movie, bit slow but due to its message, McDormand and the beautiful photography that was no issue!
