Review:
A creepy movie!
This is definitely a creepy movie, based upon a graphic novel (Sandcastle by Pierre-Oscar Lévy & Frederik Peeters)
M. Night Shyamalan found it fitting to make this movie during the pandemic, just because he felt it gave off the same vibe that a lockdown gives. Not being able to go anywhere, being stuck in one place. And in the meantime there’s fear for something you cannot control. (In case of real life: the virus, in case of the movie: an unexplainable occurrence – getting older in a short amount of time)
I didn’t think it was Shyamalan’s best movie but I am a huge fan of his work. (Apart from Wyaward Pines, well the second season sucked!) so when I hear he has a new movie coming, I’m always there for it!
And this one has that feeling of dread throughout the entire movie, a feeling of being locked up. The setting is like paradise but there’s a darker side to paradise.
So in conclusion: I liked it but it wasn’t thé best movie either… but I’m glad I have it in my Shyamalan collection!
