Review:

Since its revival, Creepshow managed to gain a new breed of horror fans who love strange, gruesome and terrifying tales told by the best writers and artists. In this second collection of ten new tales, each introduced by the maniacal The Creep.

Volume 2 has a few weird tales to tell. It all starts with a man who has visions of an unborn child, a child he had aborted, which uses his guilt (and his wife) as a weapon. (Make your choice). Next is a son who just lost his mother and buried her. He’s a paleontologist who just made a discovery that will invade the living and the dead. Will he manage to save his dead mother? (Fossil Record). The third story (The Man with no Eyes) warns us all not to be hooked to our tv-set because for this boy and his father it could become a deadly show to watch. In ‘Keep it down’ a girl with gifts needs a bit of rest and pays the ultimate price for it! Another girl learns the downside of having eternal life in ‘Eternity, eternity, eternity’. A ‘blood’ red diamond in ‘Sacrifices’ has a purpose but when its thief swallows it, he may become the sacrifice himself. (the ending reminds a little bit of ‘The Raft’). When a brat kid doesn’t return the cart in cart corral in the parking lot of a superstore, he might learn a sad lesson, as well as his mother. (Killer Cart Corral). A woman with a special amulet is being put into a nursing home, with a reputation… a bad one! But an amulet must be given away and not taken away and the head of the nursing home will learn this the hard way in ‘The Amulet’. Then a pyromaniac governor who hates comic books and burns these in huge piles will have an epiphany and a very ‘Burning Ambition’. Finally the collection ends with ‘ Keep it fed’. In this final tale the monster under the bed may not be willing to eat the kid but his biggest love, only to become a monster himself! In tales like those added to this Creepshow comics, a little bit of Stephen King and a lot of Lovecraft is present!

As said, these are ten gruesome tales and fit right in the Creepshow-lore! I am very curious about the next volume, coming real soon! And of course, I will be watching the other movies (already watched the first one recently) and the tv-show written by Greg Nicotero, who directed and wrote a lot of episodes of ‘The Walking Dead’.

Get your ‘Creep’ on!
