Review:
This time the demon responsible for the horrors and deaths of so many households, only to get the first male heir, is haunting a new victim, Jesse Arista.
After the events in Paranormal Activity 4, the demon has moved to an apartment block where Jesse lives. In the apartment under his a woman dies and from that moment on things start to happen to Jesse, especially after Jesse and his friends perform a satanic ritual in jest. A spirit is latching on to him. At first it all seems like fun and games but the spirit turns malevolent quickly.
When Jesse buys a handheld camera he records everything that’s happening to him and his friends, making everyone else a witness to the horror this demon is inflicting on Jesse. Ultimately it’s Hector, Jesse’s best friend who documents the events, when Jesse starts acting strange.
With a link to the original Paranormal Activity movie, this is a spinoff and a sequel in the horror franchise that changed horror.
Taking the franchise away from the family of Katie, upped the ante a little bit, making for an interesting take on the franchise and the horrors that haunted the families in the previous movies. It becomes scarier again, after the weak fourth (if you take the Japanese movie as canon, fifth) movie.
