Review:

Paranormal Activity 3 is a prequel to PA 1 & 2 where we see the girls, Katie and Kristi, fall under the spell of evil for the first time!

In 1988, Dennis and Julie live with their two daughters Kristi and Katie, in a suburban house in California. Dennis is a nut for videotaping and editing videos. After an earthquake hit their town and house, things begin happening in their home so he puts up video cameras all over the house. Especially since he’s seen a strange figure in a tape he made, when he was trying to make a sex tape when the earthquake hit.

On one of the tapes he sees Kristi talking to someone, an invisible friend called Tobi, during the night. When her mother starts asking about Tobi, Kristi says he’s standing next to her.

The events follow each other faster and faster and become more malevolent by the day. The babysitter has an encounter, Kristi is running around during the night playing with Tobi and a silly innocent game of ‘Bloody Mary’ turns scary for Katie and Randy, Dennis’ friend.

The family decides to move to Julie’s mother’s place in Moorpark, California. But that night Dennis wakes up to the sound of cars and the camera is witness to something very strange, with a lot of creepy women involved!

This is by far the scariest of the four movies I have seen in this franchise so far (rewatched, I should say for most of them). Wicked things happen to these two girls (played fantastically by the two girls, by the way! Very convincing!). And this story explains a lot what happens later to the two sisters. Although they themselves don’t really remember anything much from their past when they were young. This too is explained in this movie.

There’s still nothing new here, but the scenes are really creepy and the sounds in this one are more present, even a growl or two is heard, and creepy as hell, to be honest! I didn’t remember this one being this scary. It haunts you! And the ending is so f**ing surprising (I should say: spinetwisting maybe?), you won’t see it coming!

The first movie still is the best in this franchise (I don’t think any of the other ones will top the surprise that first movie offered us) but this one comes really pretty close!
