Review:
A group of friends come to Crystal Lake to stay a weekend at a cabin. Little do they know that a killer is stalking the friends.
This time the group of young (oversexed) people aren’t camp counselors but just a group of friends, who want a getaway at a cabin for fun and drinks. Of course do they know about the legend of Pamela and Jason Voorhees and what happened to the people that opened the camp. This movie events happen just a day after the second one, by the way!
Jason is still prowling the woods and one by one he starts killing of the youngsters, a habit he will continue in a lot of sequels after this movie. And this is thé movie where he dons his ever so iconic hockey mask! (Where he found it, no idea!)
And there are more victims than just the young visitors because a group of gangsters has come to the camp, after a run in in a store with some of the visitors, to start some chaos. But Jason is there and before they know it the impaling starts, the crushing of bones and the chopping of the axe. Will there be survivors?
This instalment had the same problems the previous one had, bad lighting. And even though it may have been typical for those days to make dark movies (I remember some of the early Halloween movies were plagued with the same problem), it’s no fun if you can’t see properly what is going on, especially when it’s Jason out for a kill!
Ingenuity in kills lacks a little bit again but they start to become more gruesome. The next one in the series will up the ante with the killings (and the bodycount as well, although this one has a larger bodycount too!)
So all in all a good installment but not the best of the series! But donning the hockey mask to Jason was thé best decision to create the iconic killer Voorhees now is!
