Review:

Finally I got to see this ‘side sequel’ of the Paranormal Activity movies, Tokyo Night.

After a stay in America and having broken both legs in an accident over there Haruka returns back home to her father and brother in Tokyo. Her father leaves for a few days for werk and the brother, Koichi, and Hakura are alone at home. One morning Haruka sees that her wheelchair has changed places during the night. And when Koichi leaves some salt on the ground to fend off spirits, it is spread all over the floor the day after.

When he starts to put up a camera in his sister’s bedroom strange occurrences start to happen. And then his room is suddenly a target by whatever roams the house as well. Strange noises, things breaking without a cause and stuff moving is how it all starts.

Even a cleansing of the house doesn’t seem to do much. The dark spirit remains in the house. And the events worsen every night. It’s only when Haruka tells the true story behind her accident in the US that some things start to become clearer. But will that help in any way to stop the spirit or demon that came to Japan?

I think this was a valid attempt to make a great spooky horror movie, Japan style with the same elements used in the original Paranormal Activity movie. I have seen better Japanese horror, no doubt about that. But the noises and the strange things happening do make for a scary movie and the ending is creepy as f*ck! Don’t watch these movies in the dark!

This movie is definitely connected to the original PA movie, it even has an answer, for those who look for one, to what happened to Micah and Katie (if you watched the original and not the unrated version of that movie!

A good addition to the series and glad I finally got a chance to see it!
