Synopsis:
Doctors Herbert West and Dan Cain discover the secret to creating human life and proceed to create a perfect woman from dead tissue.
Review:
This was quite a boring movie, completely different in pace from the first one. It did however hold its dark tone and picked up where the first one stopped while introducing some new characters and bringing back a few.
Herbert West is still at his shenanigans and reviving the dead , this time thinking he found the right ingredients for an improved reagent. He wants to create new life from death do he creates a new woman from body parts from the hospital and with Meg’s heart. Dan is still reeling from the loss of Meg, in the first movie, and throws himself at his work and tries to save as many people as possible. But sometimes to no avail.
When a police officer, whose wife was one of West’s first revived victims, wants to avenge his wife ends up in West’s hands. And another doctor at the hospital has just received the head of Doctor Hill… and revives it. And yet another one is out for revenge and West and Dan are in danger!
The movie is messy and just can’t live up to the original’s success.
I actually wouldn’t mind if they remake Re-Animator with today’s CGI-possibilities and a great director.
One thing cán be said of this movie, it pays wonderful tribute to Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein!
