Synopsis:
Jeff is an anguished man who grieves and misses his son, who was killed by a drunk driver in a car accident. He has become obsessed for revenge against the drunk driver, judge, and only witness who refused to testify; he has also become neglectful of his daughter. Lynn Denlon is a skilled surgeon that is cheating on her husband and suffering from depression. Both are abducted and brought to Jigsaw’s warehouse, where they must play two separate games: Jeff must choose whether to save or let the people he holds responsible for the death of his son die, while Lynn must keep Jigsaw alive until Jeff completes his tests, or face the deadly consequences.
Review:
Yes, another round of games and another lesson to learn! John Kramer and Amanda are back, this time they kidnap a doctor so she can save Kramer’s life. But there’s a lot more at stake because at the same time a man called Jeff is playing the game. His son is dead after a hit and run and the people responsible for his death or for not persecuting the culprit are on the torture traps. It’s Jeff’s choice whether he saves them or not.

The great thing about this movie is the level of smartness is back in a way from the first movie. Kramer is playing games and has things prepared that will unfold in the end (and in later movies). The traps are more elaborate as well, cruel and violent at times. And for the first time in the series it’s not really sure the victim is actually surviving them even if they manage to do what is asked of them… and it is also clear that John has never worked alone!
The events in the next movie, Saw IV, play during the events in this movie so that one will not be a sequel but rather a kind of back to back storytelling.
And one death in this movie is so vicious and bloody, you wouldn’t expect it!
