Kirby and his wife, Amanda want a plane to fly them over Isla Sorna, with Dr. Grant as their guide. But not everything Kirby says is true. When the plane lands, Dr. Grant realizes that there is another reason why they are there, that he doesn’t know of. Now, Dr. Grant is stuck on an island he has never been on before, with what was a plane journey now turned into a search party.

Review:

As for all the Jurassic Park movies this is the one I am least fan of and it is the most flawed of the entire franchise. This being said that doesn’t mean it is a bad movie.

The movie starts when a stepfather and his stepson are kite flying near an island. All goes well until the boat that’s towing them disappears into a fog and it goes awry.

In comes Dr. Alan Grant who still digs up dinosaur bones, together with his assistant Billy. But funding is low and his speeches don’t really reach the right persons, only those that are interested ik what happened on Isla Nublar or the events in San Diego, which Grant never witnessed.

So when Mr. And Mrs Kirby ask him ti join them on a flight over Isla Sorna, promising him enough funding for a few more years of digging, he can’t refuse. He and Billy join them but before he knows it, he ends up on the island. And then things really start to go downhill with rampaging dinos and running from death.

When you watch this movie it lacks the same depth and pace the original Jurassic Park had, something that will only come back with the next movie, Jurassic World. It also centers a bit too much on the comedic stuff. As I said, the movie is flawed… there’s a huge amount of mistakes (the biggest being a spinosaurus breaking through a steel fence but then not being able to break through a ramshackle building). But it has some really great stuff in there as well!

There’s the plane crash and the events with the spinosaurus just after they landed, there’s the survival of the kid, Dr. Alan Grant is back and so is Ellie Sadler (although in a smaller part). This is the first time we see pterodactyls in the franchise so the aviary scene is a great as well. And there’s the boat in the storm scene… so the action is still very nice to watch and come on, it’s dinosaurs… what’s not to like, right?

Next on the list: Jurassic World!
