Review:
For the first time ever I will review a tv-series episode per episode. This is because it’s an anthology series and each episode is a story in its own… the reviews will mostly be short and I will try to keep them as spoilerfree as possible!
The second story in this anthology is a gothic horror tale, slightly reminiscent of Stephen King’s Rats (The Graveyard Shift).
I have noticed I am not the biggest fan of gothic horror, although I do try it once in a while and depending on how its written or how it’s brought to its viewers (movie/tv shows) I can enjoy some of it. (I al thinking if Susan Hill’s stories and the movie Woman in Black or Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Hill House and of course Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow)
This tale where rats steal corpses and a grave robber is starting a fight with these pestilent rodents is a dark and comedic story where he becomes the rat’s play toy, especially when he follows them in their labyrinthine corridors underneath the graveyard.
Natali, who was also the director of Cube, Splice and In the Tall Grass, brings a claustrophobic telling of man vs animal! How much will Masson be willing to do in order to get some gold teeth and jewellery from the dead?
