Synopsis:

The year is 1936. An archeology professor named Indiana Jones is venturing in the jungles of South America searching for a golden statue. Unfortunately, he sets off a deadly trap but miraculously escapes. Then, Jones hears from a museum curator named Marcus Brody about a biblical artifact called The Ark of the Covenant, which can hold the key to human existence. Jones has to venture to vast places such as Nepal and Egypt to find this artifact. However, he will have to fight his enemy Rene Belloq and a band of Nazis in order to reach it.

Review:

Originally just called ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ but due to its success a few sequels were made and the changed the title so the link with the main character was clearer.

This is the movie that started a new series of adventure movies with Harrison Ford as the title character. Now, over forty years later there are 5 movies, a series of novels and a tv-show (Young Indiana Jones) and a legacy that’s unbreakable forever!

In ‘Raiders’ we meet Indiana Jones for the very first time when he’s in a jungle looking for an artefact. His very first adventure, at least the first one we get to see of him. But you can tell the man has been on many adventures before. His battered hat and his whip testify to this. And like a true archaeologist he gains some but looses some as well. Mostly because others, mostly grave robbers, steal what someone else has dug up.

Indiana Jones is actually Professor Jones, aan archaeology professor in the university of Chicago. His friend Marcus Brody, whom Indiana offers treasure to to sell to a museum, often comes unannounced in class only to tell Indiana there are people waiting to talk to him.

And thus starts a new adventure that will take him to Mongolia and Morocco and will reunite him with his long lost love Marion Ravenwood and his friend Salah! And of course the worst enemies Indiana can encounter: nazis and a grave robber called Belloq!

All this on the quest for the Ark of the Covenant, the same Ark Moses brought along on his journey from Egypt to the promised land! But that ark is not to be medled with, because a door/portal has two sides!!!

This is to many still the most favourite Indiana Jones movie and I get it. It is funny, it has great acting, the music is superb and there’s even a horror element. And a better casting for Indiana Jones could not have been made, Harrison Ford ìs the Man with the Hat! I love rewatching this series ever my so often, just because of how good these movies are!
